Hi, I'm James

I’m James, a Cork & Kerry, Limerick wedding photographer who captures stories across Ireland. My journey with photography started at just 15 when a teacher handed me an old Minolta camera. I didn’t think much of it at the time, but one of my first-ever images—a candid shot of a student lost in his music—ended up winning a national photography competition. That moment sparked something in me, and although life took me down other paths, I always found my way back to photography.

The Way I See It

I don’t take life too seriously—never have. I guess that’s why I’m not the bossy photographer type. Weddings are about joy, and I’m here to blend in, have a laugh, and capture those real, unfiltered moments.

You’ll see my landscape roots in my wedding images—the dramatic backdrops, the way couples become part of the scenery. And my candid shots? They hold people’s attention, as if they’re trying to piece together the story within them. No ego, —just me, a camera, and a drive to create the best images I can.

Legacy. Memory. love

At 15 years old, I stood at the entrance of my school in the drizzling rain, trying to use up the last few shots on a roll of film. I had no clue what I was doing—just clicking away, framing the world as I saw it. One of those images, a young lad lost in his music, head tilted back, smiling, ended up winning a national competition. Did I realize the significance at the time? Not a chance. I was 15—I thought I was in trouble when my teacher pulled me aside with a stack of prints! But looking back, that was the moment everything started.

I still feel like that 15-year-old kid, standing in the rain outside my school, unknowingly capturing a moment that would change my life. Back then, I had no idea that a simple black-and-white photograph of a lad lost in his music would win a national competition and set me on this path. I didn’t realize that years later, I’d be standing in castles, on cliffs, and in candlelit venues, capturing the biggest moments of people’s lives.

But here I am, camera in hand, still wondering what I’ve gotten myself into. Maybe the teachers were right—maybe I am a dreamer. But dreaming allows me to see things differently. It helps me capture love in a way that feels real, unposed, and timeless. Since then, I’ve amassed over 50 international wedding awards from one of the biggest online wedding platforms, competing against some of the best photographers in the world. But awards? They don’t define me. They’re just a challenge—something to keep me hungry, pushing myself to create my best work every single time. More than anything, they’re a reminder that this daydreaming young lad has truly found his calling.
