Pamela & Niall's Engagement Shoot at Owenahincha Beach | Cork Wedding Photographer

When I was chatting with Pam about planning their engagement shoot, she was thrilled. It was the perfect opportunity for us to meet in person, and for them to get comfortable in front of the camera before the big day. I decided to choose Owenahincha Beach as the location since I hadn’t photographed there in a while. But as the day unfolded, I found out that this beach held special meaning for Niall. It turns out that he and his family used to visit here when he was younger, adding an unexpected layer of sentiment to the day.

Like with all my couples, we took a relaxed approach. We walked, we talked, and along the way, I snapped some candid shots. Owenahincha Beach is nestled near Rosscarbery in County Cork. It’s such a beautiful spot for a little escape, perfect for anyone looking for some fresh sea air. One of the highlights is the scenic walk that leads you up around the cliff edge. Don’t worry—everything is safely fenced off, so no danger of a slip (though you might want to watch out for the wind!).

At a certain point, we ventured over the fence where the land opens up. It’s well back from the edge, and it feels like you’ve got the whole place to yourself. This part of the day was especially nice. We just wandered around, continuing our chat, and captured some lovely, natural photos. Engagement shoots, in my experience, are always relaxed and fun. They're an ideal way to break the ice before the wedding day. You get the chance to discuss the timeline for your wedding and get a feel for how we’ll work together. For me as a photographer, it's a chance to understand what works for my couples, what they enjoy, and what makes them a bit uncomfortable. This helps me tailor the wedding day photos to suit their personalities perfectly.

If you’re planning your wedding and looking for Cork wedding photographers, or maybe even thinking about elopement photographers in Cork, an engagement shoot is a fantastic way to connect before the main event. Not only does it help you get comfortable in front of the camera, but it also gives you and your photographer a chance to create a bond. Whether you're looking for a laid-back vibe like Pam and Niall or something a little more styled, it’s always worth meeting up and chatting through your ideas.
