Springfort Hall New Year’s Eve Wedding — Adrian & Michelle
Spending New Year’s Eve at a wedding has quietly become tradition for me.
Without ever planning it that way, I’ve somehow found myself photographing a wedding on New Year’s Eve nearly every year since I started. While most people are counting down to midnight somewhere loud, I’m usually standing quietly in a room full of emotion, watching moments unfold that matter far more than fireworks.
Adrian and Michelle’s wedding at Springfort Hall was one of those days.
A day full of meaning.
A day full of heart.
And a day that reminded me exactly why I do this job.

A Wedding That Was Always About Family
From the very beginning, it was clear this wasn’t about timelines, trends, or ticking boxes.
This wedding was about family.
Michelle and Adrian have two beautiful little daughters, Eryn and Ava, and everything about the day revolved around them and the people they love most. It felt less like a traditional wedding and more like a celebration of life, love, and togetherness — the kind where everyone in the room feels included, seen, and valued.
There was no rush.
No pressure.
Just warmth.

Springfort Hall, Mallow — A Venue That Gets Weddings Right
If you’ve never been to Springfort Hall, it’s hard to explain it properly without sounding like I’m overselling it — but I’m not.
Springfort Hall is a stunning old Irish mansion tucked away just outside Mallow, Co. Cork. It has character, charm, and that rare feeling of being both elegant and completely relaxed at the same time.
The food there is always excellent — consistently so — and the staff genuinely know what they’re doing. They don’t overcomplicate things. They don’t panic. They just get weddings.
From a photographer’s point of view, it’s one of those venues where everything flows naturally. Rooms are bright. Spaces feel lived in. And there’s always somewhere quiet to step away when emotions need space to breathe.
A Christmas Mix-Up That Turned Into One of the Best Mornings
With the madness of Christmas still in full swing, I managed to read the ceremony time wrong.
I thought it was at 12pm.
It wasn’t.
It was 2pm.
Now normally that would cause mild panic — but honestly, what do you do? You roll with it.
So instead of rushing or stressing, I did what I always do when time slows down unexpectedly. I went upstairs, introduced myself properly, had a coffee with the bride and her family, and let the morning unfold naturally.
And it did.

“Is That the One I Drew?”
One of the most powerful moments of the entire day happened quietly, long before the ceremony.
PJ — who is like a brother to Michelle — arrived into the room while she was getting ready. As soon as he walked in, he noticed the wedding dress hanging nearby.
He stopped.
Stared.
And almost instantly, the tears started.
“Is that the one I drew?” he asked.
Michelle smiled.
“Yes.”
That was all it took.
Months earlier, PJ had sketched out a dress idea, never imagining it would one day become this. Seeing it brought to life — hanging there, waiting to be worn — broke him in the best possible way.
Hands to mouth.
Tears flowing.
Michelle standing up to wrap him in a hug.
A moment that no one planned.
A moment that mattered.
And a moment I promised myself I would never miss.

A Father and Daughter, Bound by a Lifetime of Music
As the morning went on, I learned something that made everything else make sense.
Michelle is an only child.
And she and her dad are inseparable.
Growing up, music filled their home. Her father loved to sing, and Michelle — even that morning — was singing along to the playlist as she got ready. It was second nature. Something they’d done together her whole life.
So when I say emotional father, now you understand what I mean.
This wasn’t just a dad walking his daughter down the aisle.
This was a man reliving every moment of her life all at once.

Petals, Little Feet, and a Lump in Everyone’s Throat
Shortly before 1pm, Adrian arrived with his crew, and I slipped downstairs to grab a few quiet moments with him before everything began.
Then came Eryn and Ava.
Dressed beautifully.
Walking side by side.
Throwing petals up the aisle for their mum waiting behind them.
Behind them stood Michelle — arm in arm with her dad.
And in that walk, everything collided.
Her daughters walking ahead into their future.
Her father replaying her past.
And Michelle standing right in the middle of it all.
At the top of the aisle, I could see Adrian’s mum, overwhelmed with pride, watching her first-born stand tall, waiting for the woman he loves. You could feel it in the room — that shared emotion that needs no explanation.

“Relax Boy, I’m Here Now”
When Michelle reached the top of the aisle, she didn’t hesitate.
She wrapped her arms around Adrian and pulled him close — almost as if to say:
“Relax boy. I’m here now. Let’s get married.”
The room broke.
Tears everywhere.
Smiles through emotion.
That beautiful mix of joy and overwhelm that only weddings can create.

Cold Air, Warm Hearts, and Winter Light
Later in the day, we braved the cold and stepped outside onto the grounds of Springfort Hall.
Winter weddings have a quiet magic to them. The light is softer. The air is still. And moments feel slower somehow.
We made the most of the gardens, laughing through the cold, stealing moments together before heading back inside to warmth and celebration.
As the sun dipped, we stepped back out once more — sparklers lighting up the night, a few Chinese lanterns floating gently upward, marking the end of one year and the beginning of another.
It was the perfect way to close the day.

Why Days Like This Matter
This wedding wasn’t about perfection.
It was about connection.
The hugs you didn’t see.
The tears you didn’t notice.
The looks exchanged when no one else was watching.
Those are the moments I watch for.
Those are the moments I promise never to miss.
Thank You
Adrian and Michelle — thank you for trusting me with a day that meant so much. Watching the love you have for each other, for Eryn and Ava, and for your families was genuinely special.
To the incredible team at Springfort Hall, thank you as always for your warmth, professionalism, and care. From the food to the flow of the day, you make weddings feel effortless.
And to every guest who laughed, cried, and celebrated alongside them — thank you for making this New Year’s Eve one I won’t forget.
