I don't photograph every wedding, or every moment, the same way. Some moments need no direction at all. Others need a little guidance, beautiful light or something more creative. I move naturally between documentary storytelling, candid moments, relaxed couple portraits, family photographs and editorial-inspired images as your day unfolds. The style follows the moment, so your wedding never has to follow a photography style.
Over the last 15 years I’ve been fortunate to earn 58 international photography awards and see the work featured across Ireland’s top wedding platforms. I’m grateful for that recognition. But a perfectly staged frame that impresses a judging panel will never carry the same weight as a split-second moment that actually happened. I photograph the day as it unfolds — the genuine craic, the unscripted tears, the quiet looks between people who matter. When the moment calls for it I stay completely unobtrusive. When a family group or a portrait needs a little structure, I give it. The style follows the moment. The moment is never forced to follow a style. Those are the photographs that still matter years later.
Look, I get it. I hear it every single week. Usually one of you is reasonably okay with a camera, and the other would rather do their own dental work than stand there posing for photographs. You don't want your wedding turned into a photoshoot, and you definitely don't want someone shouting instructions at you all day.
But relaxed wedding photography doesn't mean I simply stand back and leave you to figure everything out either. If you need a little direction, I'll give it. If the light is beautiful or I see the chance to create something special, I'll tell you. And if you're laughing with your friends and completely lost in the moment, I'll stay out of it and photograph what's actually happening.
Most of the time I just blend into the chaos. I'll stroll into the house, probably have a cup of tea, have a laugh with your family and ball-hop off the room. By the time the dress is on and the laces are tied, I'm usually just part of the furniture.
That's really how I work throughout a wedding. Sometimes completely candid. Sometimes gently directed. Sometimes we'll slow things down for a beautiful portrait or create something a little more polished. You don't need to know how to pose or what to do with your hands. That's my problem, not yours. You just need to be yourselves and enjoy the day.

The longer I do this job, the more I've realised that a wedding doesn't need one photography style. It needs a photographer who knows when to change.
That's how I photograph a wedding. I can be completely documentary one minute, gently directing a natural portrait the next, organising the family photographs, then creating something more polished, creative or editorial when the setting gives us the chance.
I don't want to arrive at your wedding with a style already decided and try to squeeze your day into it. Your people are different. Your venue is different. The light, weather, atmosphere and energy are different. So I adapt to what's actually in front of me.
Documentary, candid, natural, creative or editorial. They're tools, not rules. The style follows the moment. Your wedding comes first.
