Limerick gives you completely different kinds of wedding days within one county. You can be right in the middle of Limerick City, surrounded by streets, stone and the River Shannon, or twenty minutes later be heading into open countryside.
Then there's Adare, one of Ireland's best-known wedding destinations, with beautiful hotels, old stone buildings, churches, parkland and countryside all sitting around the same village.
I'm James from JOD Photography. I photograph weddings throughout Limerick with a relaxed documentary approach built around real people, real reactions and giving you enough space to actually enjoy the day you've spent months planning.
I don't believe your photographer should become the main event. I'm there when you need direction, and I'm out of the way when the moment doesn't need any help.
We'll make time for the photographs that matter, including family photographs and a few portraits of the two of you, but I'm not going to disappear with you for two hours while your wedding carries on somewhere else.

About 95% of what I photograph is completely candid. The other 5% is the stuff we actually need to organise: photographs of the two of you, the bridal party and the family.
Even then, I don't want rows of stiff smiles and people standing around wondering what to do with themselves.
I'll give you enough direction to get things moving, create the spark, and then let the reaction happen naturally.
I guide when I need to. Then I get out of the way.
The rest of the day is about watching what's actually happening. People chatting. Groups laughing. Kids disappearing under tables. Someone getting emotional during the speeches. Your friends gradually becoming louder as the evening goes on.
That's the wedding I want to photograph.

I aim to share a small selection of sneak peeks as soon as I can after your wedding. If I’m not photographing another wedding the following day, that can often mean the very next day. Your complete gallery is delivered within 4–6 weeks, although, as many of my reviews mention, it’s often considerably sooner.

Your private online gallery makes it easy to view, share and download your photographs in high resolution. Intimate and Moments galleries remain online for 3 months, while Memories, Forever and Eternity galleries remain online for 6 months. You can download as often as you like while your gallery is live. Once it arrives, I always recommend downloading the complete collection and keeping at least one extra backup somewhere safe, as the online gallery isn’t intended as permanent cloud storage.

We're awkward in front of the camera. Is that a problem?
Not even slightly. Most couples tell me some version of "we hate having our photograph taken" before their wedding.
You don't need to know how to pose. That's my problem, not yours. I'll give you direction when you need it, keep things moving, get you laughing and then photograph what happens between you. You're not expected to turn up knowing how to be models.
Are all of your wedding photographs candid?
Roughly 95% of a wedding day is candid. I'm watching what's happening rather than constantly stopping it and recreating it.
The remaining few percent is where a little direction makes sense: photographs of the two of you, the bridal party and family photographs. Even those are kept relaxed and efficient. I guide when I need to, then I get out of the way.
Can we still get beautiful portraits without disappearing for hours?
Yes. That's the whole point.
I want you to have photographs that look incredible, but I don't believe you should sacrifice a huge chunk of your wedding to get them. We can work in shorter bursts, use the venue and light intelligently, and if something beautiful happens later in the day, we can grab another few minutes then.
You get the photographs. You also get to be at your own wedding.
What happens if it rains on our wedding day in Limerick?
We work with it. This is Ireland. Building an entire wedding photography plan around guaranteed sunshine would be a fairly ambitious strategy.
Good venues give us indoor options, covered areas, doorways, windows and interesting light. And Irish weather changes quickly, so if a dry ten-minute window appears later, we use it.
Rain changes the plan. It doesn't ruin the photographs.
How many wedding photographs will we receive?
It depends on the collection and the wedding itself, but my full-day collections are built around telling the complete story rather than hitting an arbitrary number and putting the cameras away.
My main full-day collections include 500+ carefully edited photographs, delivered through your private online gallery.
How long will we wait for our wedding photographs?
You won't be waiting months wondering if I've emigrated.
I send sneak peeks very quickly, often the next day when I don't have another wedding immediately after yours.
Your complete wedding gallery is delivered within 4–6 weeks, often considerably sooner.
Do you photograph small weddings and intimate weddings in Limerick?
Yes. A wedding doesn't need 150 guests to have a story worth photographing.
I photograph everything from intimate celebrations and shorter wedding days through to full-day weddings. If you're planning something smaller in Limerick, tell me what the day actually looks like and we can work out the coverage that makes sense.
How far in advance should we book our Limerick wedding photographer?
If you know you want me, I'd always recommend checking your date sooner rather than later, particularly for popular Fridays, Saturdays and summer dates.
But don't assume you're too late either. Dates move, plans change and occasionally a brilliant wedding lands in the diary much closer to the day.
