Wild & Windy at the Gap of Dunloe – Kieran & Eva’s Pre-Wedding Shoot
There’s something about the Gap of Dunloe that always delivers an adventure. It’s wild, rugged, and unpredictable—just like the best kind of photography sessions. Kieran & Eva’s pre-wedding shoot wasn’t just about capturing beautiful images, it was about experiencing the raw beauty of Kerry together.

Discover Weddings Across Kerry
Kerry has some of the most unforgettable wedding locations in Ireland. Whether you’re planning a wild adventure session in the mountains or a timeless celebration in Killarney, you’ll find every kind of backdrop here. I’ve photographed couples all across the county — and below are some of the most popular Kerry wedding pages to explore:
Each page is filled with real wedding stories, photos, and planning tips to help you picture your own celebration in Kerry.
Why Choose JOD Photography for Your Kerry Wedding?
Kerry isn’t just another location — it’s a place that demands to be photographed with care. From the wild weather shifts on the Gap of Dunloe, to the soft evening light on Muckross Lake, you need someone who knows how to adapt fast, tell your story honestly, and capture the real moments in between the poses.
That’s what I do. I don’t stage your day to look like someone else’s — I focus on the laughter, the nerves, the mad Irish weather, and the moments you’ll look back on in ten years with a smile. Having worked across every corner of Kerry, I know the light, the angles, and how to make sure you’re relaxed while I do the running around.
This isn’t about “just photos.” It’s about having a wedding story you can feel every time you open your album.

A Photographer Who Knows Kerry’s Best Kept Secrets
Before I became a wedding and couples photographer in Kerry, I was first a landscape photographer. That meant camping out in the remotest corners of Ireland, waiting for the perfect sunrise, chasing the best light, and discovering hidden locations most people never see.
So when couples book me for a pre-wedding shoot in Kerry, they’re not just getting a photographer—they’re getting someone who knows the land, the light, and the secret spots that make for the most breathtaking images.
Like many Irish people, Kieran & Eva had never been deep into the Black Valley before. And that’s what I love—showing couples these incredible places, seeing their reaction as they take it all in.

Braving the Elements – A Wild Irish Pre-Wedding Shoot
We started at the Gap of Dunloe, a place that feels like stepping into another world. The sun was out, but the wind was relentless, howling through the valley, rattling off the mountains, and battering us below.
But in true Irish fashion, you just get on with it. Kieran & Eva embraced it—laughing, holding on to each other, and enjoying every windswept moment.
We climbed higher, hoping for some shelter, but the wind only got stronger. That’s the magic of shooting in Ireland—it’s unpredictable, but it always makes for epic, unforgettable images.

Off the Beaten Path – Into the Black Valley
After battling the elements in the Gap of Dunloe, I suggested we go deeper into the Black Valley, one of Kerry’s most remote and untouched landscapes. The drive itself was breathtaking, with the sun breaking through the clouds, casting golden light across the valley.
Tucked away here is Moll’s Cottage, a place filled with history and surrounded by some of the most spectacular views in Ireland. Kieran & Eva had never been here before, and their reaction said it all.
As we walked along the valley, taking in the stillness, it was a reminder of how lucky we are to have places like this right on our doorstep. There’s something special about exploring our own country, stepping into history, and capturing these quiet, powerful moments together.
Why Do a Pre-Wedding Shoot?
A pre-wedding shoot is about more than just photos—it’s about:
✅ Getting comfortable in front of the camera before your big day
✅ Exploring Ireland’s most stunning landscapes together
✅ Having a fun, relaxed experience that’s just about you
✅ Creating epic images without the time pressure of a wedding day
And with a photographer who knows the best locations, you’ll get something truly unique—something that feels like an adventure, not just a photoshoot.
