Hayfield Manor wedding moments

Cork is Ireland’s rebel city — lively, colourful, and full of character. And when it comes to weddings, it has everything: historic churches, elegant hotels, Georgian houses, and cosy corners for portraits.

Having photographed many Cork city weddings and elopements, I’ve seen the city give couples the perfect mix: big celebrations in luxury venues, intimate elopements in hidden corners, and photographs that feel both timeless and modern. Whether you’re planning a grand city-centre wedding or a small elopement, Cork has a backdrop that makes your day unforgettable.

Why Choose Cork City for Your Wedding?

Couples choose Cork for a few simple reasons:

  • Location: Easy for guests with Cork Airport and train station close by.

  • Variety: Elegant hotels, riverside views, cobbled streets, and vibrant nightlife.

  • Energy: The city has a buzz that brings weddings to life.

For photography, Cork City is a dream. I’ve photographed couples walking through the English Market, stealing a kiss on Patrick’s Street, and standing hand in hand by the River Lee as the sun set. Every corner has a story.

Wedding Venues in Cork City

Cork is full of incredible wedding venues — here are some favourites I’ve worked in:

  • Maryborough House Hotel – A Georgian gem with walled gardens and elegant interiors. Perfect for couples who want history with a touch of luxury.

  • Hayfield Manor – Five-star, classic, and intimate. Brilliant for couples who want timeless style and a central location.

  • Imperial Hotel Cork – Right in the heart of the city, with stylish interiors and unbeatable city-centre energy.

  • Clayton Hotel Cork City – A modern hotel with stunning river views, great for larger weddings.

  • Nano Nagle Place – A unique venue full of history and character, perfect for couples who want something different.

Each of these venues brings its own atmosphere, and Cork’s streets and riverbanks are just minutes away for portraits.

Elopements in Cork City

Cork isn’t just for big weddings — it’s also a fantastic spot for elopements. Imagine a small ceremony in a historic building, followed by portraits in the English Market or by Shandon Bells, and finishing with dinner in one of Cork’s world-famous restaurants.

Elopements here are stylish, easy, and personal. Couples often fly in for the weekend, say their vows, and spend the rest of their time exploring Cork. It’s simple, but unforgettable

Iconic Cork Photo Locations

When couples book me for a Cork wedding, they often ask: “Where should we go for photos?”
Here are my top picks:

  • English Market – Vibrant, colourful, and full of atmosphere.

  • Shandon Bells & Tower – Iconic Cork views.

  • University College Cork (UCC) – Beautiful Gothic-style campus with stone arches and gardens.

  • River Lee bridges – Sunset reflections on the water make for incredible portraits.

  • Cork streets – Colourful doors, Georgian houses, and cobbles.

Real Cork Weddings

One of my favourite Cork weddings took place at Hayfield Manor. The couple started their day with a quiet first look in the gardens, had their ceremony surrounded by friends and family, and later we strolled through the city for portraits at sunset.

Another memorable day was at Maryborough House. After an elegant ceremony, we slipped into the walled gardens for portraits, and the couple ended the night dancing in the Georgian rooms under chandeliers.

That’s what Cork does so well: it gives you variety without losing intimacy.

My Photography Style

I work in a documentary style. That means natural, candid, unposed photography. I’ll capture you and your guests as things happen — laughter, hugs, tears, dancing — all without turning your day into a photoshoot.

In Cork, that approach really shines. I’ll photograph the energy of the city, the quiet moments in a hotel garden, and the late-night party vibes — all while keeping it true to you.

Planning Tips for Cork Weddings

Here are a few things I’ve learned from photographing weddings in the city:

  • Traffic: Build extra time into your timeline, especially if you’re moving between ceremony and reception.

  • Light: Cork’s best golden hour spots are along the River Lee — plan portraits near sunset.

  • Guests: The city has brilliant hotels and B&Bs, making it easy for guests to stay nearby.

  • Weather: Always have a backup plan — but don’t fear a bit of rain, Cork streets look amazing in soft light.
