Every now and then you photograph two people and quietly think to yourself, they were always going to find each other.
That was Jane and Niall.
As a Hotel Woodstock Wedding Photographer, I get to witness all kinds of love stories, but every so often a wedding comes along where everything simply fits. Jane and Niall fitted together so naturally that you almost forgot there was a camera nearby. They laughed together, encouraged each other, and made every part of the day feel effortless. It wasn’t about posing for photographs. It was simply two people completely comfortable in each other’s company.
Some weddings are remembered because of the venue. Others because of the weather. This one will always stay with me because of the people.
From the moment I arrived that morning, the laughter had already started. The bridal party had the kind of friendship you can’t fake. They have clearly grown up together, shared life’s ups and downs together, and on this day every one of them wanted nothing more than to celebrate Jane and Niall.
Those friendships became one of the biggest stories of the day.

Bunratty Castle Wedding Photography
After the ceremony we headed to the beautiful grounds of Bunratty Castle.
The weather could not have been kinder to us. Blue skies, warm sunshine and a wedding party who were completely up for anything.
Rather than disappearing for hours to create photographs, we all wandered together through the castle grounds, laughing the whole way. It never felt like a photoshoot. It felt like a group of friends out enjoying one of the happiest days of their lives.
One of my favourite moments happened completely unexpectedly.
As we walked through the grounds, tourists began stopping to admire Jane in her wedding dress. You could hear people whispering, “Look at the bride.” They smiled, waved and watched the celebrations from a distance.
Then I thought…
Why not give them a memory they’ll never forget?
So I invited a group of complete strangers to step into a wedding photograph.
The smiles were instant. For those tourists it became a photograph they’ll probably tell stories about for years. For Jane and Niall, it became another genuine moment that nobody could have planned.
Those are the moments I love most because they’re real.

The Perfect Match
Jane and Niall were simply brilliant to photograph.
No idea was ever too much trouble.
Every suggestion was met with a smile and a “Let’s do it.”
Watching them together reminded me why I still love photographing weddings after all these years. They laughed like teenagers who had just fallen in love. Every look between them felt genuine. Every smile came naturally.
Some couples look good together.
Jane and Niall looked like they had always belonged together.
Sometimes you meet two people and realise they really have found the one person they were always supposed to meet.
That was them.

More Than a Wedding
The more I think back on this wedding, the more I realise friendship was at the heart of the whole day.
You could see it from early that morning.
At Jane’s house, her bridesmaids weren’t simply there because they’d been asked to wear a dress and stand beside her. These were proper friendships. The kind built over years.
Neighbours were dropping in with cards and hugs. People would appear at the door just to see Jane before she left.
There was this lovely feeling around the place of one of our own is getting married today.
And everyone wanted to be part of it.
Her bridesmaids were never far away. Helping when something needed doing, laughing when it didn’t, and making sure their friend had the morning she deserved.
Then I went over to Niall’s.
Different house.
Same story.
Except with considerably more taking the piss out of each other.
Breakfast was being eaten, suits were going on and nobody seemed entirely sure who owned what.
“Where’s my jacket?”
“They’re my shoes, not your shoes.”
The lads were in tears laughing while somehow managing to get themselves dressed in the middle of it all.
It was brilliant to watch because there was nothing put on for the camera. This was clearly how these guys were together every other day of the year.
And later, during the speeches, you saw the other side of it.
Listening to Niall’s best man speak about him, you could tell immediately that this wasn’t a friendship that started because somebody needed a best man for a wedding.
These lads had history.
They knew each other properly.
The stories. The good times. Probably a fair few things that were wisely left out of the speech.
But underneath all the jokes was something much stronger.
They were there for one another.
And that was true on both sides.
By the time the bridal party surrounded Jane and Niall on the dance floor later that night and everyone disappeared into that huge group hug, the photograph meant more to me.
It wasn’t just a nice ending to a first dance.
It was the whole day coming full circle.
The girls who had stood beside Jane that morning.
The lads who could barely get dressed because they were laughing so much.
The friends who had grown up together.
The people who knew Jane and Niall long before there was a wedding to celebrate.
All wrapped around two of their favourite people.
And maybe that’s why this one felt like much more than a wedding.
It was friendship in all its forms. The slagging. The laughter. The hugs. The history. And that quiet understanding that when something really matters, these are the people who will be standing beside you.

Hotel Woodstock
Back at Hotel Woodstock the celebrations gathered pace.
The staff were fantastic throughout the day and the venue provided the perfect backdrop for family and friends to relax, laugh and celebrate together.
As the evening rolled on, the dance floor filled and the atmosphere lifted another level.
Then came one final moment that summed up the entire wedding.
As Jane and Niall finished their first dance, their bridal party joined them on the dance floor. Within seconds everyone came together in one huge embrace. No posing. No planning. Just one enormous hug between friends who clearly mean the world to each other.
It perfectly captured everything this wedding was about.
Friendship.
Family.
Laughter.
And two people beginning the next chapter of their lives surrounded by those who love them most.

Thank You
Jane and Niall, thank you both for trusting me to tell your story.
Your wedding reminded me that the best photographs rarely come from complicated poses or perfect light. They come from people who are simply enjoying one of the greatest days of their lives.
I wish you both a lifetime of laughter, happiness and adventures together.
A huge thank you to the wonderful team at Hotel Woodstock for looking after everyone so well, and to all of your family and friends for making me feel like part of the celebrations from the very beginning.
Finally, thank you to every supplier who helped create such an incredible day.
