What does a wedding cost in Ireland in 2027?
The latest large Irish wedding survey put the average wedding at €34,392, with couples spending an average of €2,108 on photography.
Looking back across the Irish surveys from roughly 2022 to 2025, wedding costs have risen considerably, although not every part of a wedding has increased at the same rate.
I’ve used those published figures and their recent changes to estimate where prices could sit for couples planning a wedding in 2027.
Below is every cost on the list, from the dress and suits to the car, the rings and the photography, with my 2027 estimates and what affects each price.

Worth saying
One thing the numbers don’t tell us
Ireland is expensive right now, and couples are feeling that too.
Rising costs for venues and suppliers don’t automatically mean couples have more money to spend. In reality, wedding budgets have to compete with mortgages, rent, energy, food and everything else life throws at you.
That’s another reason I wouldn’t simply take an old wedding price and add the same percentage every year.
The surveys tell us what happened over the last few years. I’ve used those changes to help estimate where prices could sit in 2027, but they’re estimates, not predictions.
Couples will still make their own choices about what matters most to them, and real weddings will land both above and below these figures.
The quick version
Three useful numbers for planning ahead
Nobody knows exactly what a wedding will cost in 2027. These figures are based on recent Irish wedding surveys and are useful for planning, not predictions or rules.
Recent photography costs have risen around 5–6% a year
Looking across roughly three years of survey data, average photography spend increased from €1,779 to €2,108. That’s an increase of about 18% overall, which works out at roughly 5–6% a year across that period.
It hasn’t happened evenly. The most recent annual increase was much smaller. But the longer-term change gives us something useful to work from when estimating future prices.
Photography has been around 6% of the average wedding spend
In the latest WeddingsOnline survey, average photography spend was €2,108 against an average total wedding cost of €34,392. That works out at just over 6%. It’s useful context, not a recommendation for what any couple should spend.
Some wedding guides suggest keeping a contingency
One Fab Day suggests keeping around 12.5% of the overall budget available for unexpected costs. It’s not something every couple will need, but it’s worth remembering that the final bill can move as plans change.
The research
The numbers, year by year
I went through the main Irish wedding surveys so you don’t have to. Here’s what couples actually told them.
These are planning figures, not rules. Your wedding can cost €15,000 or €60,000 and still be a brilliant day.
What changed over the last 3–4 years?
Before trying to estimate 2027, it makes sense to look backwards.
The Irish surveys don’t show one neat inflation rate across every part of a wedding. Some costs moved sharply, some barely moved at all, and different surveys measure things slightly differently.
But taken together, they show the direction wedding costs have been moving.
| Survey | Average wedding | Average photographer spend |
|---|---|---|
| WeddingsOnline, earlier survey (c. 2022)* | €29,812 | €1,779 |
| WeddingsOnline, January 2024 | €33,083 | €2,094 |
| WeddingsOnline, January 2025 | €34,392 (+3.96%) | €2,108 (+0.7%) |
| One Fab Day, 2026 | about €36,000 | typical range €2,000–€4,000 |
| My estimate for 2027 | about €37,000 | about €2,300 (range €2,100–€4,200) |
*Published around 2022 and included the honeymoon in the total, so compare the photographer column rather than the total. Surveys are self-reported by couples (1,023 took part in 2024, 641 in 2025). One Fab Day’s readers tend to spend more than average, so read €36,000 as the upper end. The last row is my estimate, not a published figure.
So how fast are prices really rising?
Photography is a good example of why I don’t want to pretend there’s a magic annual percentage.
The earlier survey put average photography spend at €1,779. By January 2025 it was €2,108.
That’s an increase of about 18% across roughly three years, equivalent to around 5–6% a year if you smooth it out.
But prices didn’t rise neatly by 5–6% every year. The latest annual change in photography was only about 0.7%, while the overall average wedding cost increased by 3.96%.
So rather than claiming prices will rise by a particular amount, I’ve used the longer-term figures below simply to build a reasonable 2027 planning estimate.
Looking ahead
If recent trends continued, where could 2027 sit?
Nobody has a 2027 survey yet, because 2027 hasn’t happened.
So the figures below are my estimates, not published averages.
I’ve taken the most recent published numbers and projected them forward using the recent increases shown above. They aren’t quotes and they aren’t predictions. They’re simply a sensible starting point for couples trying to build a 2027 budget.
| 2025 published survey | 2026 JOD estimate | 2027 JOD estimate | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Average Irish wedding | €34,392 | €35,754 | €37,170 |
| Average photographer spend | €2,108 | €2,213 | €2,324 |
The 2025 column is published survey data. The 2026 and 2027 columns are my estimates: the total wedding grown at 3.96% a year (the latest survey rise) and photographer spend at 5% a year (my planning assumption).
Using that method gives an estimated average wedding cost of around €37,000 in 2027 and an estimated photography spend of around €2,300.
Real weddings will obviously land either side of those numbers.
How I calculated my 2027 photography estimate
Average photography spend increased by roughly 18% across the longer survey period, equivalent to around 5–6% annually when averaged out.
I’ve used 5% as a cautious planning assumption when projecting the photography figure forward.
That does not mean photographers will increase their prices by 5% every year. It’s simply the assumption used to produce the estimate on this page.
The full list
Every wedding cost in Ireland, and what affects the price
Every wedding is different, so a national average can only tell you so much.
Below I’ve taken the costs that regularly appear in Irish wedding surveys and guides and used the recent figures to build rough 2027 planning ranges.
These are my estimates, not supplier quotes. Location, experience, demand, what’s included and the choices each couple makes can move the real price considerably.
| Item | My 2027 estimate | What can affect the price |
|---|---|---|
| Venue, food and drink | ||
| Venue and catering | Depends on guest list | Guest numbers, the venue, menu, drinks package, season and day of the week all make a difference. It’s worth asking exactly what’s included, because headline prices can cover very different things. |
| Guests’ accommodation | – | Room rates, how many rooms are reserved, the season and which guests a couple choose to cover all affect this figure. Many venues offer wedding rates or reserved room blocks, so it’s worth asking early. |
| Photography and video | ||
| Photographer | €2,150–€2,500 | Hours of coverage, experience, albums, a second photographer and what’s delivered afterwards all affect the price. Compare what’s included alongside the style of the work. Smaller weddings may need fewer hours; a full wedding day usually has a bigger workload. |
| Videographer | €1,800–€2,050 | Coverage time, the number of videographers, film length, editing, drone footage and the final films delivered can all affect the price. Compare the finished work and what’s included rather than the headline figure alone. |
| Content creator | €1,300–€1,450 | Content creators usually provide quick-turnaround vertical video, behind-the-scenes footage and social-media-ready clips. Hours of coverage, the amount of content delivered and turnaround time can all affect the price. |
| Dress, suits and rings | ||
| Wedding dress | €2,050–€2,400 | Designer, fabric, detailing, alterations and whether the dress is made to order can all move the price considerably. A boutique can explain what’s included in each price, including fittings. |
| Dress alterations and cleaning | – | The number of fittings, the complexity of the dress and whether alterations are included in the dress price all make a difference. It helps to ask the boutique what’s covered and what’s charged separately. |
| Bridesmaid dress | €360–€420 per bridesmaid | The number of bridesmaids is usually the biggest factor, followed by the designer, fabric and any alterations. |
| Suits | €1,600–€1,850 for around four people | Buying or hiring, tailoring, accessories and the number of people being dressed all affect the final figure. It helps to compare the complete cost rather than the advertised suit price. |
| Accessories and shoes | €380–€430 | Shoes, veils, jewellery, ties, cufflinks and similar items vary widely in price, and they can add up across the wedding party. |
| Wedding rings | €1,700–€1,950 | Metal, design, stones, whether they’re bespoke and any engraving all affect the price. A jeweller can explain the options at different budgets. |
| Engagement ring | €3,100–€3,600 | Usually bought well before the wedding, so it’s often left out of wedding budgets. The stone, setting, metal and jeweller all affect the price. |
| Music and entertainment | ||
| Band | €2,700–€3,100 | Band size, reputation, travel, playing time, equipment and whether a DJ is included afterwards can all affect the final price. |
| DJ | €720–€820 | Playing time, equipment, lighting, travel and whether the DJ is booked independently or alongside a band can change the cost. |
| Ceremony music | €600–€680 | Soloists, duos and larger groups come at different prices, and so do the length of the ceremony, the music chosen and travel. |
| Drinks reception entertainment | €660–€770 | The number of musicians or performers, how long they play and travel can all affect the price. |
| Evening entertainment | €950–€1,100 | The type of act, the hours, travel, equipment and demand on the date all affect the price. Entertainment ranges widely, so compare what each option includes. |
| Ceremony, planning and fees | ||
| Celebrant or officiant | €510–€580 | The type of ceremony, preparation involved, travel and what’s included can all affect the fee. The person conducting the ceremony has a huge influence on how it feels, so compare the service as well as the price. |
| Notification and registration fees | About €200 | An administrative cost that most couples need to allow for from the start. |
| Marriage preparation course | – | Required for some church weddings. Your parish can tell you what’s required and what fees apply. |
| Wedding planner | €2,050–€2,350 | Full planning, partial planning and day-of coordination are very different services. The level of support, the number of events and travel all affect the fee. |
| Wedding insurance | – | The price depends on the level of cover, the value of the wedding and what’s included. It’s worth reading what is and isn’t covered. |
| Flowers, décor, cake and stationery | ||
| Flowers | €1,100–€1,250 | Season, flower varieties, bouquet size, ceremony arrangements, table flowers and the scale of the installation can all change the final cost. A florist can usually explain where different parts of the budget are going. |
| Ceremony décor | €530–€610 | What the ceremony space already provides, the scale of the styling, hire items and setup and collection time all make a difference. |
| Venue décor | €720–€830 | Some venues need very little added to them, others are a blank canvas. The scale of the styling, hire items, installation time and collection all affect the price. |
| Wedding cake | €480–€560 | Size, number of tiers, decoration, flavours and delivery all affect the price. Your cake maker can advise what size suits your guest numbers. |
| Foodie treats | €400–€450 | Sweet carts, grazing tables, late-night food and similar extras vary with guest numbers, the choices made and the level of service. |
| Invitations | €300–€340 | Design, printing method, paper, finishing touches and guest numbers all affect the cost. |
| Favours and gifts | – | Completely personal, so the cost depends on what couples choose and how many guests receive them. |
| Hair, makeup and beauty | ||
| Bride’s makeup | €270–€300 | Experience, travel, start time and whether a trial is included can all affect the final quote. |
| Bride’s hair | €145–€165 | Experience, travel, start time and whether a trial is included can all affect the final quote. |
| Bridesmaid makeup | €125–€145 per person | Bridal party size, travel, start time, trials and the number of artists required can all affect the final quote. |
| Bridesmaid hair | €115–€135 per person | Bridal party size, travel, start time, trials and the number of stylists required can all affect the final quote. |
| Beauty treatments | €610–€700 | These vary from person to person. Which treatments are chosen, how many sessions there are and how far ahead they’re booked all affect the total. |
| Transport and the day itself | ||
| Wedding car | €630–€720 | Vehicle type, number of cars, distance, waiting time and the length of hire all affect the price. |
| Guest transport | – | Distance, guest numbers, hire length and the number of journeys decide most of the cost. A coach or shuttle is often used where accommodation and the venue are in different places. |
| Photobooth or selfie mirror | €560–€650 | Packages vary by operating time, prints, props and guest books, and so do the operators. Not all of them charge big money. Some give you a lot more for a lot less, so it’s important to shop around. And do check out Ace Entertainment Cork, who have everything a wedding needs. |
| Children: outfits, entertainment and childcare | – | The cost depends on how many children are attending and their ages. Some venues already provide children’s options, so it’s worth asking. |
| Gifts for parents and wedding party | – | There’s no set amount. It depends on the number of people and what the couple choose. |
| Hen or stag | €260–€290 per person | Group size, destination, accommodation and activities are what move this figure. |
| After the day | ||
| Honeymoon | €5,300–€6,050 | Destination, season, duration and how far ahead it’s booked make a big difference. |
| Surprise fund | About €4,600 on a €37,000 budget | One Fab Day suggests keeping around 12.5% of the overall budget available for unexpected costs. Not every couple will need it, but the final bill can move as plans change. |
The ranges are my own estimates for 2027. I started from the published Irish wedding surveys listed at the bottom, allowed for prices rising about 4% a year (about 5% for photography), and rounded. They are planning figures, not quotes, and your suppliers will quote their own prices. Please check the surveys themselves for their figures.
Venue, food, drink and rooms
The surveys don’t publish a venue average, so here’s what is published.
- Guest meal: The January 2025 WeddingsOnline survey reported an average meal price of €93 per guest. One Fab Day uses €110 per guest in its example budget. Guest numbers therefore have a major effect on the overall wedding total, but venue packages and what’s included vary considerably.
- Venue and catering together: One Fab Day uses €15,400 for 140 guests at €110 a head. Image.ie (March 2026) says packages start around €79 a guest, and exclusive-use or premium venues run €120 to €250 or more a head.
- Accommodation: no euro figure is published. In 2025, 63% of couples paid for their parents’ rooms, 48% for the wedding party and 22% for nobody.
- What guests give: Image.ie reports €250 to €300 per couple as a typical wedding gift.
What affects the final venue bill: guest numbers, price per head, drinks packages, accommodation, ceremony fees, evening food, exclusivity, season and day of the week can all change the total considerably. Check what’s included in a package before comparing the headline price.
Where the surveys showed the biggest changes
Some categories changed much more than others between the earlier surveys and January 2025.
- Bride’s makeup: +167%
- Makeup per bridesmaid: +75%
- Bridesmaid dress (each): +71%
- Bride’s hair: +63%
- Hair per bridesmaid: +61%
- Beauty treatments: +47%
These historical increases shouldn’t simply be carried forward into 2027. Several started from relatively small figures, which can make the percentage increase look dramatic. I’ve therefore treated them as evidence of how much prices can move, rather than using each percentage as a prediction.
Costs people forget
- Beauty treatments before the day.
- A content creator for social clips, new to the surveys in 2025.
- A photobooth or selfie mirror.
- Accessories and shoes.
- Hen and stag weekends, which are per person.
- Alterations to the dress, suits and bridesmaid dresses.
- A contingency: One Fab Day suggests about 12.5% of your total, €4,600 on a €37,000 budget.
51% of couples in the 2025 survey went over budget.

Your budget, your way
You don’t have to spend the average.
An average is useful when you’re trying to get your bearings, but it isn’t a target.
A 150-guest Saturday wedding in July is completely different to an intimate ceremony with 30 people or an elopement in Kerry.
That’s why national averages need context.
Some couples put more of their budget into the venue. Some care enormously about the band, flowers, food, photography or film. Some keep everything small.
There isn’t a correct way to divide it.
The useful part of the national figures is simply knowing roughly where prices have been sitting before you start asking suppliers for quotes.
The same applies to photography. A smaller celebration may only need shorter coverage, while a full wedding day has a completely different workload.
My own collections start from €600 for smaller weddings and celebrations, with longer coverage available for couples who want the complete story.
Why prices differ
What actually moves the price
- Hours of coverage. A civil ceremony and a full day from the morning prep are very different jobs.
- How many photographs are delivered. A photographer might take thousands. What matters to you is the finished, edited collection you actually receive.
- Albums and prints. A handcrafted album is extra work and extra cost, but it’s the thing that actually ends up on the coffee table.
- Travel. Some photographers add it on. Ask.
- Experience and insurance. Backup cameras, backup cards, public liability cover, years of knowing what to do when it rains.
When you compare quotes, compare what’s included, not just the number at the bottom.

My prices
Where I sit, and why couples are surprised
Here’s the honest bit. My collections start from €600 for smaller celebrations and shorter coverage.
A full wedding day with me, from the morning preparations to a few songs after the first dance, comes in comfortably under the average Irish couple’s photography spend. At the upper end, my complete album collection (full day, your own handcrafted album, parent albums and a USB presentation) still lands inside the €2,000–€4,000 that Irish wedding guides quote for the photography alone. Albums are normally extra.
So while the national average is a useful starting point, what you actually spend depends on what you want to walk away with after the wedding.
- Travel is included throughout Munster. Weddings elsewhere in Ireland are available too, for a small travel fee. Just ask.
- A private online gallery with unlimited high-resolution downloads.
- Sneak peeks, often the very next day.
- Delivery promised within 4–6 weeks and, as my reviews say, almost always far sooner.

James’s Recommendation
Acrylic Prestige
The album I keep coming back to.
A wedding album should feel as good as the photographs inside it.
Albums are usually an extra on top of the photography price. In Forever and Eternity, yours is already part of the collection.
Forever and Eternity include a handcrafted 30 × 30cm / 12 × 12" wedding album, designed around up to 80 photographs from your day. You’ll have a choice of finishes, but if you ask me which one I’d choose, I’ll nearly always point you towards the Acrylic Prestige.
The crystal-clear acrylic cover gives the photograph real depth and the lay-flat design lets the story flow beautifully across the page. It feels substantial without being fussy, and it’s exactly the kind of album I want my couples to still be taking down from the shelf years from now.

I aim to share a small selection of sneak peeks as soon as I can after your wedding. If I’m not photographing another wedding the following day, that can often mean the very next day.
Your complete gallery is delivered within 4–6 weeks, although, as many of my reviews mention, it’s almost always considerably sooner.
Download them. Back them up. Keep them safe.
Your private online gallery makes it easy to view, share and download your photographs in high resolution. Intimate and Moments galleries remain online for 3 months, while Memories, Forever and Eternity galleries remain online for 6 months.
You can download as often as you like while your gallery is live. Once it arrives, I always recommend downloading the complete collection and keeping at least one extra backup somewhere safe, as the online gallery isn’t intended as permanent cloud storage.
Make it yours
Enhance your collection.
Start with the collection that suits your day. Then add something only if it actually matters to you. There’s no need to squeeze your wedding into a package just because that’s how the price list was written.
Another pair of eyes on the day. Particularly useful for separate morning preparations, larger weddings and those moments happening in two places at once.
A relaxed session before the wedding, with no wedding-day timetable. A chance to get comfortable in front of the camera and come away with photographs you actually like.
Beautiful handcrafted versions of your wedding album for the people who will want to sit down, turn the pages and relive the day with you.
Something different
Your wedding doesn’t have to fit neatly into a box.
If none of these collections quite fits the way your day is planned, get in touch. I’m happy to talk it through and work out what actually makes sense for your wedding.

Quick answers
Wedding costs in Ireland: your questions
How much does the average wedding cost in Ireland in 2027?
The latest large survey (WeddingsOnline, January 2025) put it at €34,392, up 3.96% on 2024. Projecting that rate forward gives about €37,000 for a 2027 wedding (my estimate, not a published figure). One Fab Day uses €36,000 in its example budget.
How much is a wedding dress in Ireland in 2027?
I’d plan on roughly €2,050–€2,400 for 2027 (my estimate). Designer, fabric, detailing and alterations are the main things that move the price.
How much do wedding suits cost in Ireland?
Roughly €400–€460 for each suit in 2027 (my estimate). Buying or hiring, tailoring and the number of people being dressed all affect the total.
How much does a wedding car cost in Ireland?
Roughly €630–€720 in 2027 (my estimate). Vehicle type, number of cars, distance, waiting time and the length of hire all affect the price.
How much does a wedding videographer cost in Ireland?
Roughly €1,800–€2,050 in 2027 (my estimate). Coverage time, the number of videographers, film length, editing and drone footage can all affect the price.
How much do wedding rings cost in Ireland?
Roughly €1,700–€1,950 for wedding rings in 2027 (my estimate), on top of the engagement ring.
What does a wedding venue cost per head in Ireland?
The average guest meal in the January 2025 survey was €93 a head. One Fab Day uses €110 for venue and catering, and Image.ie (March 2026) says packages start around €79 a guest with premium venues at €120 to €250 or more.
Who pays for wedding guests’ hotel rooms?
In the 2025 survey, 63% of couples paid for their parents’ accommodation, 48% paid for the wedding party and 22% paid for nobody. There is no published average cost, so it’s worth asking your venue for room rates early.
How much does a wedding photographer cost in Ireland in 2027?
Irish wedding guides quote €2,000–€4,000 for photography, which suggests roughly €2,100–€4,200 in 2027 (my estimate). The latest survey average was €2,108. Smaller coverage costs less, and my collections start from €600.
How much do wedding photography prices go up each year?
There’s no fixed rate. Over about three years the average Irish photographer spend rose roughly 5–6% a year, though the latest single year was nearly flat. I’ve used 5% a year as my planning assumption for the 2027 estimate on this page.
What percentage of the wedding budget goes on photography?
In the latest WeddingsOnline survey, photography accounted for just over 6% of the average total wedding spend. That’s an average from that particular survey, not a rule. What an individual couple spends will depend on the photographer, coverage, albums and what’s included.
Why do wedding photographers charge what they do?
You’re paying for a full day on location, then many hours of editing, backing up and album design. On top of that sit insurance, backup cameras, software and running a business.
Should I book my photographer early?
Prices rarely drop closer to the date, and good photographers book up, so booking early protects your date.
Do I need to spend the average?
Not at all. An average is a starting point, not a target. A 30-person ceremony and a 150-guest Saturday wedding are very different days, and every couple divides their budget in their own way.
How much photography coverage do I need?
That depends on the day. A full wedding day with morning preparations, ceremony, portraits, speeches and dancing has a different workload to a smaller ceremony or an elopement. Tell me about your day and I’ll tell you what fits. My collections start from €600.
Is travel included?
Travel is included throughout Munster. Weddings elsewhere in Ireland are available too, for a small travel fee. Just ask.
Ready when you are
Tell me your date, your venue and a little about the day. I reply personally to every message, usually within 24–48 hours. WhatsApp is quicker.
How I worked out the 2027 estimates
Nobody can tell you exactly what an Irish wedding will cost in 2027 yet.
The figures on this page start with published Irish wedding surveys from roughly 2022–2026.
I looked at how the reported costs changed across those years and used those changes to create my own planning estimates for 2027.
Where the historical data was inconsistent or a reliable average wasn’t available, I’ve either given a broad planning range or left the figure open.
So when you see “2027 estimate” on this page, that’s exactly what it means: my estimate based on the recent Irish data, not a published 2027 average and not a quote from every supplier in Ireland.
Where these numbers come from
- WeddingsOnline Irish Wedding Survey, January 2025: average €34,392, up 3.96% on 2024; photographer €2,108; over 641 couples.
- WeddingsOnline Irish Wedding Survey, January 2024: average €33,083; photographer €2,094; 1,023 couples.
- WeddingsOnline, earlier survey (c. 2022): average €29,812 including the honeymoon; photographer €1,779.
- One Fab Day, “How much does a wedding cost in Ireland?”: average €36,000; photography typically €2,000–€4,000; 12.5% contingency advice.
- The Irish Times, 6 February 2026: One Fab Day average of €36,000, with €15,400 on food and drink for 140 guests.
- Image.ie, “How to budget for a wedding in 2026” (16 March 2026): venue packages from about €79 a guest, premium €120–€250+, guest gifts €250–€300 per couple.
- Diamonds Factory, January 2022: photography then quoted at €2,000–€4,000, the same range guides still use.
My item-by-item ranges are my own estimates, built from the surveys above and not copied from them. The 2026 and 2027 numbers in my tables are estimates, calculated from the growth rates described above. Every photographer sets their own prices. Last updated November 2026.
